Anthropic is reportedly developing a “permanent memory” feature for its Claude Cowork AI assistant, integrating knowledge bases to allow the AI to retain and recall information across interactions. This upgrade aims to transform Claude from a conversational chatbot into a more persistent and collaborative digital assistant.

Sources indicate that this “permanent memory” will be implemented through “knowledge bases,” which are designed to store and retrieve relevant background information. Unlike traditional AI models that process each interaction in isolation, Claude will now be able to build a cumulative understanding of user preferences, decisions, and factual contexts.
